A student at Nantucket High School recycles after lunch in the cafeteria. Because of a shortage of landfill space, Nantucket is a leader in zero waste, diverting 92 percent of its trash from landfill though recycling, composting and reuse programs. Everyone on the island is accustomed to sorting trash.
